Hansel and Gretel Once upon a time, a very poor woodcutter lived in a tiny cottage in the woods. He had two children, Hansel and Gretel. A few years after Hansel and Gretel were born, their mother died. The woodcutter married again, but his second wife did not like the children at all. One day the wife said, there is not enough food in the house for all of us. There are too many mouths to feed we must get rid of the two children. Take them far away from the house so that they can never find their way back The poor woodcutter did not know what to do.
